Most Pregnant women realize the importance of chiropractic care throughout their pregnancy, but few realize the benefit after giving birth. Here are some reasons to see a chiropractor during your "4th Trimester" or the immediate time postpartum.

PAIN

Usually this is the number one reason Moms seek chiropractic care postpartum. Whether you've had pain in your low or upper back, hips, or pubic bone, making sure you are properly moving through chiropractic care will help decrease compensations that may be causing your pain.

POSTURE

As a new Mom you are going to be in positions and postures that will be new and unusual for your body. Whether that means sitting more often while breastfeeding, or bending over more to pick your baby up, your posture plays a role in your overall well-being. Chiropractic can help get you out of these pain producing positions, reinforcing a more optimal posture.

MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT & REHABILITATION

Lets face it-- Your body spends almost 10 months growing a human and changes in a few moments. As Chiropractors, we want to make sure you have proper movement patterns so you aren’t compensating with poor patterns that may lead to pain and dysfunction. The chiropractic adjustment puts movement in an area that is not moving very well to help alleviate these compensatory movements. Many chiropractors pair their adjustments with rehabilitation to make sure you have a proper foundation to perform your daily tasks and all the things you enjoy doing.

INSTABILITY

Our bodies undergo immense changes, including the release of the hormone Relaxin. As you may know, Relaxin helps loosen the ligaments to help prepare for labor. After delivery, Relaxin is still in abundance in our bodies and can contribute to an unstable feeling. Chiropractic care can help decrease the amount of stress placed on these unstable areas, and with the addition of some exercises help you regain more stability.

DIASTASIS RECTUS ABDOMINIS

Diastasis Recuts Abdominis (DRA) is the separation of the fascia between the abdominal muscles. This can lead to a variety of different conditions, including low back pain, and is important to get assessed after pregnancy. DRA specific rehabilitation helps to increase the rate of healing and decrease the risk of discomfort.
